Presidio Graduate School has received a 3-year grant from the Ayrshire Foundation to help expand Presidio’s new Cleantech Management Certificate program.

“We are delighted to have the Ayrshire Foundation as a collaborator in our new Cleantech Management Certificate program,” said William Shutkin, Presidio’s President and CEO. “We’re creating a new generation of business and public leaders for the emerging cleantech sector, leaders committed not only to running great organizations but solving great problems like climate change and our energy future. Ayrshire has been advancing this kind of work for many years. We’re honored to be part of their roster of high-impact climate and energy organizations.”

The Ayrshire award is a three-year, $75,000 commitment that will support faculty and curriculum development for the Certificate program.

“Ayrshire and Presidio are both dedicated to the same thing, protecting and enhancing our world through education and sustainability values,” Foundation trustee Peter Boyer noted. “We’re excited to count Presidio among our environmental grantees, alongside other important institutions like the California Academy of Sciences, Caltech, Environmental Defense Fund, the Rocky Mountain Institute, Stanford University and the Union of Concerned Scientists.”

The new Cleantech Management Certificate Program will educate and train professionals, policymakers, and business managers for the transition to a clean technology economy. Designed for both Presidio degree students and working professionals, the new Certificate Program integrates up-to-date expertise, theory and practice to meet the needs for climate/energy careers in business, non-profit and government sectors. Students can achieve a Certificate by taking two courses. The first course in the series, Sustainable Energy Management, is currently being offered each semester. The Certificate Program is being led by Presidio faculty Dariush Rafinejad and Nizar Abdallah.
